LONGUEUIL: Cominar will build 500 residential units in Longueuil

The Fonds de placement immobilier Cominar will build 500 residential units near the Place Longueuil, only a few steps from the metro station. The project is still embryonic, but Cominar is in talks with the city. No start date has been put forth yet. Those 500 units are part of a 10 000-unit plan worth over $10 millions to be built in the Montreal area.

Desjardins announced that it will grant $500 000 to Développement économique Longueuil (DEL) to set up the centre d’expertise industrielle (CEI) of Longueuil. The CEI will work to speed up the rate of digital transformation of manufacturing companies, be it with automating, productivity or the use of digital data. The amount will be used to acquire equipment, physical improvements to shops or the integration of technologies to propel management into a futuristic factory. The CEI will help manufacturers with personalized support, displays, technological showcases and technology workshops.
LONGUEUIL: Mediagrif aims to accelerate its artificial intelligence strategies

Mediagrif Interactive Technologies joined a mission to the San Francisco AI summit at the end of September with the goal of accelerating its artificial intelligence strategies. Organized by the Quebec Ministry of Economy and Innovation and the Quebec Trade Office based in Silicon Valley, the mission provided an opportunity to see the latest advances in machine learning, wich is already being used in some development projects for the Strategic Sourcing activities of Mediagrif in order to improve matches between buyers and suppliers, and also to automate document classification, said Camil Rousseau, Vice-President of Research and Development. The company’s participation in this mission will allow it to broaden its technical knowledge and to meet potential business partners.
LONGUEUIL: A Mediagrif subsidiary to supplyNewfoundland and Labrador with new procurement electronic system

Merx Networks, a subsidiary part of Mediagrif Interactive Technologies, recently concluded a new five-year agreement with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to supply it with an electronic solution for its provincial procurement process. The solution includes Tendering and Bidding options, and also enables users from other public bodies to input bidding opportunities and award information for reporting purposes.The new electronic system allows fast implementation and will be implemented across the province at the end of November. It will resemble the platform MERX developed previously for the Province of Manitoba.
LONGUEUIL: Growth 500 rankings include four Longueuil business for 2019

Four Longueuil-based businesses are included in the Growth 500 2019 rankings. The highest one is Alliance Zone, wich shows up in 13th place courtesy of its 6187% revenue increase in the last five years. Also ranked are BBQ Québec (155th, +586% growth), EBOX (227th, +404%) and Synergie Médicale (382th, +172%). The rankings, published yearly by Canadian Business, is based on revenue growth in the last five years (2013-2018). To be included, compagnies must have at least $2 million revenue in its last fiscal year.
LONGUEUIL: Longueuil buys land to build a new elementary school in the Vert Urbain neighborhood

Longueuil has just concluded the bill of sale for land owned by the Marie-Victorin school board that will allow it to build a new elementary school in the Vert Urbain neighborhood. The school will host walkers and will promote active transportation in a secure environment in a sector in full growth. The Marie-Victorin school board will now be able to start the next steps towards building the school. The goal of Longueuil’s administration is to develop the hole neighborhood to maximise active transportation and a healthy living environment. Streets, bike lanes, pedestrian pathways and new parks are all planned in the development project.
Lumenpulse takes efficient 4.0 turn

High performance and sustainable specification-grade LED solutions designer and manufacturer Lumenpulse recently took an industry 4.0 turn that is turning out to be quite efficient. The company bought a “cobot”, a collaborative robot designed to automate production and also to work with humans. Senior director of operations for the Longueuil plant, Dominic Boulianne, highlights that the cobot reduces the margin of error due to human fatigue. Lumenpulse contemplates buying other cobots, even to replaces certain robots already part of the production process.

The Longueuil-based company has needs in its operations and maintenance departments due to its fast growth in recent months. Candidates will be interviewed on both days at Chrono Aviation's facility, wich is located near Montréal Saint-Hubert Longueuil airport.
LONGUEUIL: A new aircraft piloting Diploma of College Studies in Saint-Hubert

The Air Richelieu College will soon begin forming pilots with a brand-new aircraft piloting Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in its Saint-Hubert location, starting in January 2020. According to La Presse, the college got the permit from the Education ministry to be able to give DCS formation, wich was only available in Chicoutimi's cégep until now. According to CAE, the leading expert on civil aviation worldwide, America is going to need 110 000 pilots in the next nine years.
LONGUEUIL: Strong first quarter results for Héroux-Devtek

Héroux-Devtek showed strong results for its 2019 first quarter, wich ended on June 30th. The Longueuil-based company secured its highest funded backlog ever, reaching $747 M, an increase of 19.7% compared to the previous quarter. Sales were also on the rise, up to $143.4 M (+67.1%). The president and CEO of Héroux-Devtek, Martin Brassard, believes that the favorable results of its first quarter are due to recent acquisitions and sales increases.
