Aerospace Innovation Hub Master Plan
The aerospace industry is changing, and Quebec has all the attributes of a future leader in research and innovation. Industry stakeholders have proposed a variety of projects, namely the creation of an aerospace innovation hub.
The cities of Longueuil and Mirabel and the Saint-Laurent borough in Montreal—as well as Aéro Montréal, the primary aerospace consultation partner—have committed to a process to obtain the designation of “Innovation hub” from the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy (MEIE). These three sectors of the metropolitan region are home to most aerospace production, research, and development activities in Quebec.
In view of obtaining this designation, the City of Longueuil has acquired an essential tool to consolidate the Longueuil sector: the Aerospace Innovation Hub Master Plan. Launched in January 2024, this plan describes a vision of development—over 20 years—to accompany the transformation of the aerospace industry and the Longueuil sector.
Vision
To be an aerospace innovation hub featuring research and training infrastructure with state-of-the-art technology, allowing for partnerships between businesses and public stakeholders in order to drive innovation, and existing within a well-rounded living environment that promotes a variety of land uses, public transportation, and the conservation of natural environments of interest.
